Welcome back food family!
Ay, foodie familia… who’s already stressing about Thanksgiving prep? 😅 Every year I say I’m keeping it simple, and every year I end up with a kitchen that looks like a telenovela plot twist. But this pear pie? Esta belleza is my secret weapon. It’s cozy, it’s elegant, and it makes your house smell like you actually have your life together. 💯
Bartlett pears, cinnamon, brown sugar… honestly, it’s like fall walked into my kitchen, put on an apron, and said “¡Vamos a cocinar!” 🍐✨

🌳 “Where This Pie Comes From” — Food Origins
Pears have been around forever — like, older‑than‑your‑tías‑chisme 🤣. Bartlett pears especially have this soft, buttery sweetness that makes them perfect for baking.
And while apple pie gets all the attention (good for her, I guess 🙄), pear pie is that quiet cousin who shows up to the party looking fabulous and suddenly everyone’s like, “Wait… why haven’t we been inviting her every year?”
This pie blends old‑school fruit‑pie tradition with a little Mexican mamá magic — cinnamon, brown sugar, and that buttery crust that makes you close your eyes and say “ayyyy qué rico.”
💛 “Why I Had to Make This Pie” — My Inspiration to Make It
You know how sometimes you buy fruit with the best intentions? Like, “I’m going to be healthy this week.” And then suddenly those pears are giving you the side‑eye from the counter like, “Girl… really?”
Well, that’s how this pie was born. I had a bunch of Bartlett pears practically begging me not to let them go to waste. And since I’m not about to throw away perfectly good fruit (my mamá would haunt me), I turned them into something worthy of a Thanksgiving table.
Plus, my family loves pie. And when my family loves something, I go full mamá mode — apron on, chanclas off, oven preheated. 🥧🔥
🥧 “Pie‑fect Ending” — In Conclusion
If you’re making pies for Thanksgiving, por favor, give this one a try. It’s simple, it’s comforting, and it tastes like a warm hug from someone who loves you.
Serve it with ice cream, whipped cream, or straight out of the pan while hiding from your family in the pantry — no judgment here.
May your Thanksgiving be full of love, laughter, and pies that make everyone say, “Who made this?!” so you can casually flip your hair and say, “Oh… just something I threw together.” 😉✨
Ingredients:
8 to 10 BARTLETT PEARS, peeled and sliced
BROWN SUGAR to taste
1 tsp GROUND CINNAMON
1/2 to full stick cold BUTTER, cut in small squares
2 PIE CRUST sheets
1 EGG
1 can BAKER'S JOY SPRAY (or you can use flour and a bit of butter)
Instructions:
Preheat the oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit.
Peel and slice the PEARS and set aside in a bowl.
Add the BROWN SUGAR and CINNAMON to the pears and toss with a spatula to incorporate. Set aside.
Make your favorite PIE CRUST recipe or a store-bought crust. Spray the pie dish with BAKER'S JOY or you can spread butter and sprinkle with flour. Place one of the crusts to the bottom of the pie dish. Pinch the edges of the crust to create a border.
Add the pears.
Cut the BUTTER in small squares and place it over the pears.
Top the pie with the second pie crust. Press the pie edges to seal.
Using a small knife cut slits on the top pie crust to allow the steam to escape as it cooks.
If you have additional pie crust, use a cookie cutter design to decorate the top crust. This is optional.
Beat the EGG with a bit of water. Using a kitchen brush, egg wash the top pie crust.
Bake for 30 minutes or until the crust is fully cooked thru. IMPORTANT: The cooking time is for a convection oven. If you are not using a convection oven you will need to adjust the cooking time per your oven's settings.
Protip:
Cover the pie crust edges with aluminum foil so they don’t burn.
Use a glass pie pan so you can check the bottom of the crust. If it’s golden brown, it is done.
