Welcome back food family!
Looking for another Thanksgiving đŚ dessert idea thatâs not pies? Pues, youâve landed in the right cocina! đđ˝ These Butter Maple Glazed Biscuits are the kind of treat that make you say, âAy Dios mĂo, why didnât I make these sooner?â Theyâre soft, warm, and dripping with a glaze that tastes like a hug from abuelita.
Enjoy them as a cozy dessert with cafecito âď¸ or sneak them onto la mesa next to the turkey. TĂş decides. Either way, theyâll disappear faster than los chamacos at cleanup time. And between us, they taste a lot like those cinnamon pastries sold at that mall store whose name starts with the letter âCâ đ¤Ťđ.

đĽ From the PanaderĂa to My Kitchen
My papĂĄ was a proud panadero in MĂŠxico. He owned his own panaderĂa long before I was born, and though I never stepped inside, the stories shaped how I see baking today.
As an adult, weâd have endless plĂĄticas about mixing ingredients âflour, mantequilla, azĂşcarâlike they were old amigos who just needed the right introduction. He reminded me that baking isnât just about measurements; itâs about cariĂąo, paciencia, and knowing when to stop kneading before la masa gets mad at you. đ¤Ł
These biscuits carry that same spirit. Simple, but full of corazĂłn and a dash of humor.
đ Why I Had to Try This
I wanted something for Thanksgiving that wasnât the usual pumpkin pie or pecan pie. Donât get me wrongâI love those clĂĄsicosâbut sometimes you need to surprise la familia with something new.
My dad loved upping any receta with an extra ingredient and would always say, âYo sĂŠ lo que te digo, te va a quedar especial.â So of course, these biscuits needed that final touchâthe glaze. Bread without shine is like a party sin mĂşsica, and with this buttery maple glaze, they sparkle just right.
đ Final Bite of Wisdom
So hereâs mi consejo: make these biscuits, serve them warm, and watch la familia fight over the last one. Perfect for postre, desayuno, or even as a cheeky sidekick to your turkey.
And remember, baking is mĂĄs than just following a recipeâitâs about creating memorias. My papĂĄâs panaderĂa may be long gone, but cada vez que horneo, I feel him with me, laughing about whether I added too much canela (spoiler: nunca es too much).
Must try! đ
Servings: 10 to 12
Biscuit Ingredients:
2 cups all purpose flour
1 tbs baking powder
1 tsp salt
2 tbs sugar
1 tbs ground cinnamon
6 tbs unsalted butter, cold and cubed
1 tsp vanilla
1/4 cup maple syrup
3/4 cup milk
Glaze Ingredients:
4 tbs unsalted butter, melted
2 tbs maple syrup
1 cup confectioners sugar
2 tsp vanilla
1/8 tsp salt
1 tsp ground cinnamon
Instructions:
In a mixing bowl add the flour, baking powder, salt, sugar and ground cinnamon. Mix with a spatula.
Add the cubed butter to the bowl. Using a dough cutter or fork, cut the butter into the flour. Continue cutting until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
Add the vanilla, maple syrup and milk to the flour mixture. Mix by hand. It will become sticky.
Add and mix in additional flour as needed, 1 tablespoon at a time until the dough no longer sticks to the bowl or your hands.
Preheat the oven to 425 degrees Fahrenheit.
Flour your kitchen counter surface and place the dough over it. Roll out the dough to a one inch thickness using a rolling pin.
Cut the biscuits using a round cookie cutter. Place the biscuits on a baking sheet that's topped with parchment paper. Repeat until all the biscuits are cut.
Bake for 13 to 15 minutes or until the bottom of the biscuit is golden brown. IMPORTANT:Â The cooking time is for a convection oven. If you are not using a convection oven you will need to adjust the cooking time per your oven settings.
While the biscuits are baking prepare the glaze. Add all the ingredients to a mixing bowl. Mix with a spatula. Set aside.
Once the biscuits are fully baked let them cool off a little but make sure they remain warm. Spread or drizzle the glaze over the biscuits. Alternatively, you can cut the biscuit in half and spread the glaze on the inside of the biscuit or dip them in the glaze. Enjoy them warm.
