Welcome back food family!
Ay, familia … if you’re hosting a fiesta soon and don’t know what appetizer to make, breathe. I’ve got you. This restaurant‑style tortilla chips salsa is the kind of recipe that walks into the party like, “¿Qué onda? I’m the star now.” 🌶️✨ With just a few ingredients, you’ll whip it up faster than your tía can say, “Nomás tantito.”
It’s bright, bold, and dangerously addictive — the kind of salsa that makes your guests hover around the bowl like they’re guarding treasure. And honestly… they kind of are. 😅

🌎 A Salsa With a Passport
Salsas in Mexico are like family members — everyone has one, everyone swears theirs is the best, and every single one has a personality. This one is inspired by the simple, bold flavors you’ll find in taquerías all over México.
Crushed tomatoes for that smooth base, pickled jalapeños for that tangy kick, cilantro for freshness, and a sprinkle of Mexican oregano to remind you that our ancestors really knew what they were doing. 🌿🔥
It’s humble, it’s classic, and it tastes like home.
💃 Why I Had to Make It
I got this recipe years ago from one of my aunts — you know, the one who always shows up with something delicious and refuses to share the recipe… until one magical day she finally does. 🙌
The first time she served this salsa, nadie podía parar de comer. I mean it — chips were disappearing faster than chisme at a family party. 😂 When she told me how easy it was, I almost fell over. Since then, I’ve made it exactly the same way. Why mess with perfection?
Every time I make it, I think of that day, my family gathered around the table, laughing, snacking, and pretending they weren’t double‑dipping. (I saw you, sobrino. 👀)
🎉 Dip, Smile, Repeat
So if you’re planning a fiesta, a movie night, or just craving something delicious to snack on while you hide from your responsibilities, this salsa is your new best friend.
It’s quick, it’s easy, and it brings people together — just like all good Mexican food should. I hope your guests enjoy it as much as mine always do. And trust me… they will. 😄🌶️💚
Yields: 4 cups (32 oz)
Ingredients:
1 (28 oz) can CRUSHED TOMATO SAUCE
1 (28 oz) can pickled JALAPEÑO
1/2 cup ONION chopped
1/2 cup CILANTRO chopped
1 to 2 tsp MEXICAN OREGANO
SALT to taste
LIME JUICE to taste
Instructions:
Chop 4 to 8 or more PEPPERS depending on how spicy you prefer the salsa. Chop the ONION and CILANTRO. Set all aside.
Pour the TOMATOE SAUCE in a serving bowl.
Add the PEPPERS, ONION, CILANTRO, OREGANO, SALT AND LIME JUICE to the salsa.
Pour the vinegar from the pickled peppers to the salsa. Add as much as you prefer. The more vinegar you add the spicier the salsa will be.
Stir the salsa with a spoon to incorporate all the ingredients. Keep refrigerated until ready to serve.
